New Human-like species unearthed in Africa

A new human-like species, thought to be the missing link in the evolutionary chain of the modern human being, has been unearthed in Africa. The find was unearthed at a burial chamber, deep in the cave systems in South Africa.

The discovery of the 15 partial skeletons is the largest find in Africa to date. Details from the skeletons show that the creatures were capable of ritual behavior, though they had a smaller brain size compared to the modern man.

It is estimated that the newly discovered species, christened Homo Naledi, lived around 3 million years ago, but the precise date is yet to be confirmed. Scientists say that this discovery could rewrite the study of Human Evolution and claimed that it was ‘the missing piece of the puzzle’ when tracing back our ancestors.
