Dreams. Nightmares. Reality. These three things sum up the life of a human being. I am going to be talking about all these aspects one by one, and I’m going to tell you why it’s important to dream big, not by scientific research, facts, figures etc., but by my own experiences. I’m also going to be telling you why it’s not enough just to have big dreams.
So, firstly, I’m going to define dreams. What are dreams? They are the aspirations one has from his/her life. For example, if I say, I dream to be an astronomer, that means that I aspire to become an astronomer. Dreams vary from person to person in type, and also in intensity. Have you ever come across people who passionately follow their dreams without getting demoralized even when they are frowned at by the people around them? I certainly have.
Nightmares. These are the visions we dread; we believe it will set us back in our lives. For example, not passing a physics exam is one of my biggest nightmares. But, the thing is, nightmares do not HAVE to influence your dreams negatively at all. In fact, if used positively, nightmares can prove to be the beacon of success and accomplishment!
Now, what is reality? Well, it is the actual life that we are living; a mixture of nightmares and dreams. Yes, everything that happens either affects us positively. or negatively. Thus, we can say reality is a mixture of dreams and nightmares. Now, here comes the crucial point. If you want to become a successful person, the type of person you always dream about, it is very important to dream big. If you haven’t set that expectations bar high, you are never going to gain the success that you so deserve!
Without dreaming big, one can never fulfill his/her true potential! So, it is vital that we dream big and trudge along on the road of life, fueled by the desire to succeed! Dreaming big is not enough. If we dream, and dream, and dream some more, we will never get it done! We should use our dreams as stimulants to start working hard in order to achieve the very dreams! As you can see, it’s a big cycle, that has no beginning nor an end.
How can I back this all up? Well, I once had a dream in my eighth grade. People in the ninth grade were getting chosen to go to Germany for a german-language course, for free. I wanted to be that person in the ninth grade. Yes, there were ups and downs. I felt as if my german was not up to the mark, I was always followed around everywhere by these self-doubts.
But, when it came to the defining moment, I summoned up my courage, faced the interview with our school’s principal, and came out with flying colors. I was selected, and since then, I’ve never looked back. It wasn’t a lucky chance that I got selected; I dared to dream big and I worked really hard to achieve that big dream.
So, to all those out there who are feeling worthless and down, I suggest that you dream big, follow your passions and work accordingly. Also, developing willpower is also really important when trying to achieve your goals and dreams. Without dreaming big, you are guaranteed that you won’t fulfill your true potential. But, just that one little dream that you have, of achieving greatness, of being famous and of being successful, might make a world of difference.
Auf Wiedersehen.
